Jimmy Cleveland of Tacoma, Washington named top trailer mechanic by GE

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA - March 1, 2010 - Jimmy "Spike" Cleveland of Tacoma, Wash., has earned "Mechanic of the Year" honors for 2009 and a $2,000 prize from GE Capital Trailer Fleet Services. He was selected from among more than 230 of his peers who maintain GE's fleet of 90,000 trailers at branch facilities across North America. The announcement came at the annual Truckload Carriers Association meeting here.

Cleveland has worked in the trucking industry for 19 years, and at GE the past six, working as a mobile mechanic servicing leased trailers on-site at remote customer locations. He achieved high standings for monthly productivity metrics and successfully completed a year-end written test and hands-on monitored trailer repair challenge.

Other trailer mechanics recognized as the best in their region in 2009 included: Kevin Sawyer of Springfield, Mass., Mike Timmins of Mountville, Pa., Nuno Gomes of Markham, Ont., Mike St. Hilaire of Garland, Texas and Douglas Lockard of Columbus, Ohio.

Cleveland and other GE mechanics receive ongoing safety and operational training for trailer repairs from GE's Trailer Mechanic University, an online and on-site program conducted with the help of major parts manufacturers.
